Over six years, 70 film projects in Krasnodar Region receive over 250 million roubles in funding

At a meeting of the Film Commission of the Krasnodar Region, participants discussed the results of state support for the film industry and the promotion of region’s resort towns through film projects.

«Film production brings the region not only the visibility but also significant economic benefits. Film crews engage local businesses and use services provided by hotels, transport, catering, and other sectors. Our aim is to create the conditions necessary for the Krasnodar Region to remain a sought-after location for new film projects,» said Yulia Prikhodko, Head of the Department for Business Development and Foreign Economic Activity of the Krasnodar Region.

According to Yulia Prikhodko, cinema can also be an effective tool for regional marketing and help to promote the Krasnodar Region’s resorts, including Sochi, Krasnaya Polyana, Gelendzhik, Anapa, and Yeisk.

Since 2021, the Krasnodar Region has operated a scheme to reimburse a part of the costs incurred by film producers who shoot in the region. Film production companies can claim reimbursement of up to 30% of their actual, documented expenses in the Krasnodar Region. The maximum subsidy per film is 12 million roubles.

Over the past six years, this scheme has supported 70 film projects in the region, with total funding of more than 250 million roubles. The implementation of these subsidised projects has had a positive knock-on effect on the regional economy. Over the past six years, around 650 local contractors, including entrepreneurs, legal entities, and individuals, have been involved in the filming process.

In 2026, 26 applications from 22 film companies were submitted for the new selection round, with total declared costs of 753.8 million roubles. Following the selection process, 17 film projects were chosen. Three participants have already received subsidies totalling 17.7 million roubles. The remaining projects may still qualify for support without having to resubmit an application, subject to the availability of funding.
